i am in new york city for the first time. i am with my mom, my best friend, and my best friend's mom. i couldn't be happier. after a lengthy orientation we ran out to the discount ticket booth (our hotel is on broadway) and in the heat of the moment bought tickets to memphis. my first broadway show? it absolutely blew me away. some of the actors sang so well i was honestly moved to tears. i just felt it. i loved it. it was too good to be true. i love musical theatre. i love broadway. i love memphis. hockadoo!!

tires on pavement
wind in my hair
i almost forgot
how much i love to just drive.
before today i hadn't driven since january 21st.
that is three months and six days of no driving.
i was a little nervous. what if i had forgotten? i asked mike if he trusted me. he did. then i took the plunge well folks, let me tell you, i didn't forget. but i did forget how much i love it. i love driving. especially when the sun is shining and the top is down.
don't worry, mike took over the camera
he takes after me
quality convertible hair flip
groovin' to the radio
my partner in crime
we went on a little downtown adventure.
gotta love how classy los altos is, can't even call it the good will
my favorite stop
i think its summertime.

egg dye a success
and a mother did impress
with an easter sunday feast
that was delectable, at least!
the egg dye i brought from germany.
glitzer-ein? i think so.
all thanks to my cute mom.
i even managed to eat most of the meal!
hooray for being able to chew again.

except it is about so much more than eggs.
'He is risen! He is risen!
Tell it out with joyful voice.
He has burst His three days' prison;
Let the whole wide earth rejoice.
Death is conquered; Man is free.
Christ has won the victory.'
-Cecil Frances Alexander
it is true
He is risen!
and today we get to celebrate that.
i love our egg dyeing tradition
and seeing who can get the most creative...
(don't mind a little wisdom teeth easter sunday chub)

my mom makes cute cakes
it's as simple as that
she gets the idea
whips it out in no time flat.
but there is more to these cakes
than meets the eye,
they are pretty to look at
and they are never dry.
her cakes alway taste good
and that's the best part
every bite is delicious
from finish to start.
j looks cute with the cake.
my mom makes cute cakes,
but i decorate cute chairs.
and i dip a mean chocolate strawberry.

It’s hard to believe that seventeen years ago
My whole life changed, for the better, you know.
An only child for four years, who did as she pleased
Suddenly had a sister to hold and to squeeze.
The two grew together, had good times and bad
One time jenn bit me hard, and that made me quite mad.
It’s alright though, I tortured her all her early days
By making her sing songs and be in all my plays.
So we grew up together, matched more often than not
Some of our outfits were stellar, some weren’t so hot.
We had good hair days and bad, we took care of each other
Eventually we welcomed in two more little brothers.
We played barbies, we danced, we travelled the world,
We shared a room for years, us two girly girls.
The four years between us couldn’t keep us from being
The two best of friends with glow stars on our ceiling.
Through every photoshoot, you have stood by my side
When I’m around you I have nothing to hide!
So many adventures the two of us have had,
From setting up shop in our bathroom to disco skating so rad.
It seems like just yesterday the shooting star club
Got together and voted, causing serious hubbub!
Many years have passed, the older we’ve grown
And a sweeter, better girl, I have never known.
For some reason I started calling you j,
And it stuck, you’ll be forever known that way.
Today my dear j, you turn the big seventeen
You’ve definitely grown up, if you know what I mean.
Four inches taller and gorgeous to boot,
With our matching haircuts, I’d say we’re pretty cute!
I must say I’m glad seventeen years ago to this day
You came into the world and decided to stay.
You’re my favorite sister, without a doubt
And on your special day here’s your special shout out.
Happy birthday to a girl that I find so, so dear
My best sister, best friend, for the rest of our years.
I love you beyond what words can begin to say,
but I think you get the picture, so happy birthday!
i took real good care of my j
the more you match the better
let's play dress up!
more matchy match
older and wiser
we definitely went through an awkward phase
it might have lasted a little longer than we would have liked..
but we made the most of it
and eventually grew out of it.
too many good times
too much sister love
you're the best j!
